In addition to performing well in its overall grade, this nursing home received an excellent short-term care grade. In fact, we gave it an A in that category. With our short-term care rating, we attempt to create a fair measure for rehabilitation services. In this process, we analyze a nursing home's scope of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. One of this nursing home's strengths is physical therapy hours. We found that it offers at least 50% more hours with physical therapists to its residents than most other facilities. The final item we assessed in this category is the percentage of patients who eventually returned home from the facility. We found that it fared as well as just about any facility in Nevada in this area with 60.9 percent of its patients returning home. At most facilities, fewer than half of their short-stay residents are able to return home.

This facility has received near flawless inspections recently. We awarded them an impressive grade of A in this area. Our inspection grades weigh several factors found on a nursing home's inspection reports. One key criteria we consider is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with better grades in this category generally have very few of these severe deficiencies. Although this nursing home had a few deficiencies on its report, none of them were serious based on CMS' scale. A few relatively minor deficiencies are not something to panic about.

This nursing home also received a very impressive nursing grade. In that area, we awarded this facility a grade of A-. Nursing scores are heavily correlated with nurse staffing levels. This facility provides a very impressive 4.2 hours of nursing care per resident each day. This is among the higher figures in Nevada. Finally, this place also performed well in several of the quality-based metrics we assessed. For example, in terms of the number of its patients suffering from pressure ulcers, this place performed better than the national average. This is typically a good indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls. Pressure ulcers can generally be avoided with better nursing care and having a policy of regularly turning residents to avoid bed sores.

The next area we rated is this facility's weakest category. Nevertheless, even its weakest link would actually be a highlight for most nursing homes. We gave it a strong grade of B for our long-term care category. When facilities receive this kind of score in long-term care it is a good sign for patient care and indicates that the place is well-staffed with nurses aids. On top of looking at the elite quantity of care provided by aids and other staff at this nursing home, we also were impressed by the facility's record for vaccinations. For example, this facility administered the pneumonia vaccine to 97.65625 percent of its residents, which is what we like to see. The last statistic we assessed is its hospitalization rate. Here we found that this facility had 2.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days.
