Facility Inspections
We also wanted to emphasize the fact that this nursing home has received near flawless health inspections recently. We gave them an impressive grade of A+ in this area. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in determining our inspection ratings. One key factor is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of deficiencies is usually more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some end up being quite insignificant. This facility was hit with 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none were considered to be major deficiencies. This indicates that the government inspectors did not consider any of these deficiencies to be an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Nurse Quality
In addition, this facility received high marks in the area of nursing. As a result, it received one of our highest grades in that category with a score of A+. In calculating a nursing home's nursing grade, we weigh the quantity of hours nurses spend with residents and the skill levels of those nurses. This nursing home provides 0.7 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality-based metrics and this nursing home excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any facility the nation in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can many times be prevented by providing better nursing care, such as by having a policy of turning patients at least once a day.

Long-term Care Quality
The next category we looked at is long-term care. Adding to its dominant profile, this nursing home also excelled in that category. In fact, we awarded it a grade of of A for that area. Long-term care ratings in this range generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine medical care. On top of assessing the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 87.5969 percent of its residents, which is slightly lower than we anticipated. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
Short-term Care Quality
In the last area, this nursing home also received a first-rate short-term care score, with an A-. This wrapped up an elusive straight A report card. Our short-term care scores are considered to be most critical for folks requiring rehabilitation services. Rehabilitation usually requires additional highly-skilled nursing. This includes not only nursing services, but also physical and respiratory therapy, as well as other types of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. However, according to the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we assessed the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.
