Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

One of the reasons this place turned out to be a quality nursing home is that it received an A+ in our inspections category. This is simply as good as it gets in this area. Perhaps the most important factor we look at in computing our inspection scores is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places with better scores in this area typically dodged the most severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. We were not able to locate deficiency data for this facility. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

Among its many dominant grades, this facility received first-rate short-term care score. In fact, it received a grade of A in this category. With our short-term care grade, we try to create a sound measure for rehabilitation services. In this process, we look at a facility's offerings of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. However, according to the data they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final measure we assessed in this area is the number of patients who returned home from the nursing home. We found that 5.7 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

This nursing home also was awarded a first-rate long-term care grade. In fact, this is this facility's third most impressive category score. In that category, we gave this facility a grade of A. Nursing homes that excel in this category typically are well-staffed and offer extensive hands on care to patients. Once we looked at the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination record. This facility vaccinated 100 percent of its residents against pneumonia. Vaccines are vital to keeping patients out of the hospital. Lastly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

In the final area, we gave this nursing home an A+ for our nursing grade. This rounded out a very impressive profile. Nursing ratings are primarily tied to a nursing home's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home averages 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This facility performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can frequently be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.
