Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

In addition to performing well in its overall grade, this facility received an excellent long-term care grade. In fact, we gave it a grade of A in that category. If you are seeking anything other than short-term rehabilitation, you should take a close look at long-term care grades. In addition to assessing the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home provided the vaccine to 84.10853 percent of its residents, which is slightly below what we were hoping for. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A

To complement its strong performance in other areas, we awarded this nursing home a grade of B+ for our inspections rating. Our nursing grade is primarily associated with the facility's level of nurse staffing. This particular nursing home provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality-based metrics and this place excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any nursing home the state in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can many times be prevented by providing better nursing care, such as employing a system of moving a resident more frequently.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

Turning to the third category, this nursing home also earned a score of B+ for its short-term care rating. This is an above average score in this category. Our short-term care scores are believed to be most critical for residents requiring a nursing home for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally mandates higher levels of skilled nursing. This includes not merely nursing services, but also physical and speech therapy, as well as other types of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not all nursing homes employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the information this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we looked at the number of patients that eventually returned home from this facility. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's residents were able to return home.

Facility Inspections

Grade: B-plus

Finally, we wanted to draw your attention to this facility's nearly flawless government inspections in recent years. We awarded them an impressive grade of B+ in this category. This rounds out a very impressive report card for this facility. These inspection grades take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these items by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Although this place had a few deficiencies on its report, none were severe based on CMS' deficiency scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
