Registered Staff Hours
Short-term Care Quality
Although we gave this facility a terrible overall grade, we awarded it a grade of B- for our short-term care rating. Our short-term care grade is typically used to score a facility's rehabilitation services. In order to have highly scored rehabilitation services, facilities generally need to provide better levels of skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other highly skilled individuals. Unfortunately, we found that this nursing home provided fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other facilities. Finally, we considered the number of residents that ultimately returned home from this facility. We found that 0 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home. This figure was actually quite a bit below the national average.
Nurse Quality
Remarkably, we awarded this nursing home a grade of C for our nursing rating, which isn't a bad grade. Nursing ratings are largely tied to a facility's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this nursing home surprisingly fared better in some of the quality measures we looked at. In fact, it scored well in the area of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care. In some cases, the quality of nursing care is every bit as important as the quantity of hours of care provided.

Facility Inspections
We wanted to point out this facility's inspection score where it received a lowly F. With facilities that received this poor of an inspection rating, we would scrutinize any severe deficiencies on its inspection report. This particular nursing home had one category J through K deficiency, which rank among the worst categories of deficiencies. Another area of concern is that CMS flagged this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. This is not what you want to see. We advise you to direct your search elsewhere.
Long-term Care Quality
The final category we graded was long-term care. Unfortunately, we gave it an abysmal F in this category, which is an abysmal grade. Long-term care scores of this caliber generally are a bad sign for the quantity and quality of care provided by nurses and aids, as well as the levels of routine medical care available. After we finished assessing the volume of care provided by nurses, we turned to the facility's vaccination statistics. We were a bit worried that this nursing home vaccinated a relatively low 69.31034 percent of its residents against pneumonia. To our surprise, this place was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home has less hospitalizations than many nursing homes. This is its best feature in this category.
