In addition to being a respectable nursing home overall, this facility also excelled in the area of inspections, where it earned an A+. Few nursing homes performed better in this category. Our inspection grades account for several factors included in a nursing home's inspection report. One key criteria we rely on is the number and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with better scores in this category tend to have very few severe deficiencies. This place was hit with 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none of the deficiencies were considered to be major deficiencies. This tells you that the inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies to cause an immediate risk to resident health or safety. The fact that the deficiencies were relatively minor leaves us less concerned with this inspection report.

One of the other reasons we graded this facility so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing grade. Nursing proved to be its second best category grade. Lastly, our nursing ratings also factor in quality-based assessments, such as preventing major falls. Despite not having the highest total nursing hours, this nursing home actually performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is generally an indicator that a place has sufficient quality controls in place. Many falls can be avoided if a facility provides enough nurses aids to assist its residents.

The next area we analyzed was short-term care. In that category, we gave this facility a B-. Our short-term care grades are meaningful for prospective residents looking for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally mandates additional highly-skilled nursing. This includes a broad range of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. Unfortunately, we were not able to find information about this nursing home's registered nurse or physical therapy staffing. Finally, we considered the percentage of patients who eventually returned home from this facility. We found that 0 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was actually quite a bit below average.

The last area we analyzed is long-term care. In that category, we gave this nursing home a grade of C. In a long-term care environment, the primary goal is to maintain patients' quality of life and keep them safe. After assessing the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination record. This facility vaccinated 100 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is higher than the average nursing home. This facility also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
