Long-term Care Quality
On top of being a first rate nursing home overall, this facility also fared well in our long-term care category, where it received an impressive grade of A+. Few nursing homes fared better in this category. Facilities that excel in this category tend to provide residents with better supervision and stay on top of routine healthcare services. After considering the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination record. This nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its residents against pneumonia. Vaccines are critical to keeping residents out of the hospital. Finally, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
Facility Inspections
This facility has also received near flawless health inspections in recent years. We awarded them an impressive grade of A+ in this category. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in calculating these inspection ratings. One critical factor is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of the deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some are quite minor. This nursing home was hit with 7 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered severe. This means that the government inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies to create an imminent risk to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality
Next, we looked at the nursing category where we awarded this nursing home a grade of C. This facility didn't perform quite as well in this category as it did in some other categories. Nevertheless, this is still a respectable score. We weighed the levels of nurses working for the facility, as well as the quantity of time those nurses were with patients, in determining our grade in this category. This nursing home averages just 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low figure. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality measures. While this place got docked a bit for nursing hours per resident, it actually excelled in a few of these quality-based measures. With fewer than five percent of its residents experiencing pressure ulcers, it performed remarkably well in this statistic. This is generally an indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can typically be avoided by offering better nursing care, such as by having a system of moving a patient even once per day.
Short-term Care Quality
The last area we analyzed was short-term care. We gave this nursing home a decent score in this category, with a grade of C. Even though this isn't as high as a few of this nursing home's other grades, it is still not a major area of concern. In determining our short-term care ratings, we assess a nursing home's levels of highly skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists respiratory therapists and other licensed professionals. This rating is often a solid measure of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. It does not appear that this nursing home provided registered nurse or physical therapist staffing data. Finally, we considered the percentage of patients that ultimately were able to return home from this nursing home. We found that 4.9 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was actually well below the national average.
