Facility Inspections
On top of being an elite nursing home overall, this nursing home performed well in our inspections category, where it earned a grade of A+. Very few nursing homes performed as well in this area. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in computing these inspection grades. One key factor is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some deficiencies are quite minor. This nursing home was assessed 7 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered severe. This means that the inspectors didn't consider any of these deficiencies to cause an immediate risk to resident safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home also was superb in the area of short-term care, where it received a grade of A. Few facilities performed better in this category. Our short-term care grades are meaningful for prospective residents needing rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally mandates more highly-skilled nursing. This means a broad range of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this facility employs registered nurses. Not all nursing homes employs these types of nurses. However, according to the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last item we assessed in this category is the number of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return home. We discovered that 6.4 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.

Long-term Care Quality
Turning our third area, we gave this facility a grade of A for its long-term care score. This is a very strong grade. Long-term care scores in this range generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. Once we assessed the quantity of nursing care, we turned to the facility's vaccination record. This nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which is what we like to see. Pneumonia is too frequently a dangerous illness for nursing home residents so we like it when a facility doesn't take any chances. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
Nurse Quality
The final category we rated was nursing, where this nursing home was awarded a grade of B+. This rounded out an elite report card. Few facilities received a B+ or higher in each of our categories. Our nursing grade assesses many subcategories, but the paramount consideration is the number of nurse hours spent with patients. This nursing home averages 0.6 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also factored a few quality measures into our nursing grades. This place was relatively weak in two of the major areas we focus on, with below average scores for minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. These areas are generally reliable indicators of the quality of nursing care provided.
