Facility Inspections
One of the reasons this turned out to be a strong facility is that it received a very impressive inspection rating. In fact, inspections is its best category grade. In that area, we awarded this facility an A. Perhaps the most important factor we look at in calculating our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a nursing home's inspection reports. Facilities with higher grades in this category typically dodged the most severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. This place was hit with 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none were considered to be severe. This means that CMS did not consider any of the deficiencies to pose an immediate threat to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home fared well in our long-term care category. Indeed, we gave it a grade of A for that category, which turns out to be one of our most impressive scores. Long-term care scores in this range generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. On top of looking at the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility administered the vaccine to 98.559074 percent of its residents, which is very impressive. Pneumonia is often a deadly ailment for nursing home patients so we strongly prefer when a facility does not leave this to chance. The last statistic we assessed is the nursing home's hospitalization rate. Here we found that this nursing home had 2.94 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. Although this wasn't as favorable as most of its other scores in this area, this number can be skewed for some nursing homes based on some of the preexisting medical conditions of residents.

Not all facilities employ these skilled professionals. Finally, we looked at the percentage of residents that were able to return home from this facility. It fared better than most nursing homes in the nation in this area with 53.7 percent of its patients returning home.
