Facility Inspections

Grade: A

In addition to receiving a great overall score, this facility also received top notch health inspections in recent years. We awarded it one of our best scores in that category, with an A. These inspection grades weigh several factors, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can learn more about each of these items by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

This facility fared well in the area of long-term care. Indeed, we gave it a grade of A- for that category, which is one of our better scores. Long-term care grades of this caliber generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. In addition to assessing the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility gave the vaccine to 99.45206 percent of its patients. Vaccines are critical to keeping residents healthy. Lastly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B

Another strong feature for this facility is that it received an impressive nursing grade. In that area, we awarded this facility a grade of B. When calculating our nursing ratings, we analyze both the number of hours nurses spend with residents and the levels of licensure of the nurses. This particular nursing home provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a nursing home has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can typically be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: C

The final area we assessed is short-term care. We gave this facility a decent score in that category, with a grade of C. Even though this isn't as favorable as a few of its other grades, it is nevertheless not a major area of concern. Short-term care grades are critical for individuals seeking rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally utilizes higher levels of highly-skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing means a wide scope of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. However, based on the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last measure we assessed in this category is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return home. We discovered that just 3.9 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home, which is actually below average.
