Facility Inspections

Grade: B

Although we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it earned a very impressive government inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our more favorable scores in that area with a grade of B. These inspection grades weigh several factors, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can find more information about each of these factors by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Although this place had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. A couple minor deficiencies aren't the end of the world.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: D

We gave this nursing home just a D for our short-term care score and that actually turned out to be its second most favorable category. Our short-term care ratings are crucial for people in need of rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually mandates more highly-skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes a broad scope of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Considering its score in this category, we weren't surprised to discover that this nursing home was well below average in terms of its number of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its patients based on the measures we looked at. The last statistic we considered in this area is the number of residents who were able to return home from the nursing home. This facility struggled quite a bit in this area as well, with just 4.3 percent of its patients returning home. Unfortunately, this was quite a bit below average.

Nurse Quality

Grade: F

In addition, we gave this facility an F in the area of nursing care. There are many datapoints included in this grade. Most of the factors are tied to the quantity of nurse staffing. With just 0.4 hours of nursing care per patient per day, this facility's nurse staffing levels were far below the national average. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing scores. This place performed well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. Many consider these metrics to be reliable measures of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: F

The final category we scored is long-term care, where this nursing home was given an abysmal score in this category also. Sadly, it received a lowly F for this area, which is definitely very concerning. When facilities receive a grade in this range in this category it typically means the facility did not perform well in our measures relating to resident care. In addition to looking at the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. We were a bit worried that this nursing home administered the vaccine to just 84.792625 percent of its patients. Surprisingly, this nursing home was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home had less hospitalizations than most nursing homes. This was its best feature in this category.
