Short-term Care Quality
In addition to being a quality facility overall, this facility excelled in our short-term care category, where it received an A. Few facilities performed better in this area. Our short-term care ratings are crucial for individuals in need of rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically requires higher levels of skilled nursing. This means a broad scope of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final datapoint we considered in this category is the number of patients who ultimately were able to return home from the nursing home. We found that 5.8 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.
Nurse Quality
This nursing home performed well in our nursing category. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A for that category, which is one of our highest scores. Nursing ratings are largely tied to the facility's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This facility performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can typically be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home was given its third most favorable category grade in the category of long-term care. We gave this nursing home a B- in this area, which is a reasonably acceptable score. Our long-term care scores are more critical for residents in need of more conventional assistance associated with activities of daily living. On top of considering the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility vaccinated 99.6 percent of its residents. Finally, this nursing home was also able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
Facility Inspections
Finally, we also awarded this nursing home a B- for our inspections rating. This facility didn't have any major weak links. We would argue that one of the most important factors in assessing an inspection report is deficiencies. In this regard, we especially focus on the severity of those deficiencies. Although this facility had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none of them were severe based on CMS' deficiency scale. The fact that the deficiencies were relatively minor leaves us less concerned with this inspection report.
