Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

In addition to receiving a great overall grade, this facility also received an excellent short-term care score, with a grade of A. In the category of short-term care, we endeavor to evaluate measures of a nursing home's rehabilitation. We analyze the facility's skilled nursing services, including the ones performed by registered nurses and physical, occupational and other therapists. Fortunately, it looks like this facility employs registered nurses. Not all nursing homes employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The final datapoint we considered in this category is the number of residents who ultimately were able to return home from the nursing home. We found that 6.4 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A

Adding to its impressive category grades, this facility also excelled in the area of inspections, where it received an A. Not many nursing homes performed better in this area. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in determining these inspection ratings. One critical factor is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of the deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some of these end up being relatively insignificant. Fortunately, although this nursing home had a few minor dings on its inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means the inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A few minor dings are not the end of the world.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

Among its many impressive grades, this facility received an excellent nursing grade. In fact, we gave it a grade of A- in that category. When computing a facility's nursing grade, we consider the number of hours nurses are with patients and the skill levels of those nurses. This facility provided 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can typically be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The last category we assessed is long-term care, in which this facility was awarded a B-. Although this ended up being its poorest category rating, this is nevertheless not a terrible score. In our long-term care assessment, we analyze the sheer quantity of care offered by a nursing home, along with some qualitative measures. Once we assessed the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we then looked at the facility's vaccination record. We were concerned by the fact that this nursing home vaccinated a relatively low 87.98077 percent of its patients for pneumonia. Nevertheless, this place keeps its patients out of the hospital. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
