Long-term Care Quality
One of the reasons this turned out to be a strong facility is that it earned a very impressive long-term care score. This ended up being its best category. In that area, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A. Nursing homes that receive this kind of grade in this category typically provide consistent around the clock care to ensure patients are well cared for. In addition to assessing the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 87.73234 percent of its residents. This is a bit below what we were hoping for. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
Facility Inspections
In addition, this facility also excelled in the area of inspections, where it received a grade of A. Few nursing homes performed better in this area. Inspection scores account for several factors found on a nursing home's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we rely on is the number and severity of deficiencies. Places with better scores in this category tend to have few severe deficiencies. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality
This nursing home also received a strong nursing score. In fact, we awarded it an above average grade of B+ in this area. The nursing score assesses several subcategories, many of which are based on levels of nurse staffing. This particular nursing home provided 0 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home performed very well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Short-term Care Quality
The final category we scored was short-term care. This facility received an impressive short-term care grade in our assessment, with a grade of C. Even though this wasn't nearly as strong as some of its other category grades, this remains a respectable score in this category. With our short-term care score, we strive to create a meaningful measure for rehabilitation. In doing so, we assess a nursing home's levels of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. It doesn't appear that this facility provided information about its staffing of registered nurses or physical therapists. The final statistic we considered in this category is the percentage of patients who who were able to eventually return home from the nursing home. We found that just 4.3 percent of this facility's residents returned home. Unfortunately, this was below average.
