Facility Inspections
This nursing home earned a solid overall grade as described above, but we really wanted to emphasize its excellent inspection reports in recent years. We gave them an impressive grade of A- in this category. Arguably the most important factor we consider in calculating our inspection scores is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a nursing home's inspection reports. Facilities with better scores in this category typically avoided the most severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
In addition, we also wanted to note that this nursing home was given positive long-term care marks in this assessment. We awarded them one of our more favorable scores in this area, with a grade of B+. This turned out to be the facility's second strongest score. In a long-term care environment, the facility's primary goal is to maintain patients' quality of life and keep them safe. In addition to looking at the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility gave the vaccine to 80.27682 percent of its residents. This is a bit below what we were hoping for. Although its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we hoped for, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Nurse Quality
This facility's next best category was its nursing grade, where it received a grade of B-. The nursing grade consists of many datapoints, many of which are tied to quantities of nurse staffing. This nursing home averages just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low figure. Lastly, while this nursing home got dinged a bit for its nursing hours, it actually excelled in some of our quality measures. With less than five percent of its patients sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed very well in this subcategory.
Short-term Care Quality
Moving on to the last category, we gave this facility a grade of D in our short-term care category. This is the nursing home's weakest category rating. Naturally, this score pulled down the nursing home's overall profile to some degree. In determining our short-term care scores, we scrutinize the facility's levels of highly skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists respiratory therapists and other highly trained professionals. This grade is considered to be a reliable measure of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. It looks like this facility was subpar in the two key staffing metrics we assessed. The facility supplied fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most facilities. Finally, we considered the number of patients who were able to return home from this nursing home. This facility didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 3.6 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was well off the national average.
