Facility Inspections

Grade: A

On top of receiving a great overall score, this place also earned top notch inspections in recent years. We gave them one of our higher scores in that area, with an A. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in calculating our inspection scores. One critical factor is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of these deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some of these can be quite minor. While this facility had some minor dings on its inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those labeled as categories G through L. This means the government inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A few relatively minor deficiencies aren't something to panic about.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

We also gave this facility a grade of A- for our short-term care score. Our short-term care ratings are based in part on a facility's quantity of skilled nursing services. This includes a broad scope of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, not to mention other variations of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Finally, we looked at the number of patients that eventually returned home from this facility. We found that 6.1 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

This nursing home received a favorable long-term care score as well. We gave it one of our higher grades in that category with a score of B+. Nursing homes that receive this type of score in long-term care tend to provide consistent around the clock care to make sure residents are kept in good health. Once we looked at the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination statistics. This facility vaccinated 98.5 percent of its patients for pneumonia. Vaccines are critical to keeping patients healthy. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

The final area we looked at is nursing, where this facility was given a B-. This ended up being this nursing home's least impressive area. This is still not the end of the world. There are numerous criteria within this grade. Most of the data points reflect the quantity of nurse staffing. This particular nursing home provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident each day. This figure is far below the national average. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as preventing major falls. Despite not having the highest total nursing hours, this place actually performed admirably in the metric of preventing major falls. This is typically an indicator that a facility has quality controls in place. Many falls can be avoided if a facility provides enough nurses aids to assist its patients.
