Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing scores. This nursing home fared well in the area of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. Many consider these datapoints to be reliable indicators of the quality of nursing care.

This facility's least impressive area is long-term care, which is the last area we analyzed. Sadly, it received a lowly F for this category. In spite of a few decent scores in other categories, this score is nevertheless disappointing so we would like to to point it out. For long-term care residents, the nursing home's primary objective is to keep patients healthy and safe. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate patients. After we finished assessing the volume of care provided by nurses, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination data. We were optimistic to learn that this nursing home vaccinates 100 percent of its patients for pneumonia. To our surprise, this place was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. It had just 0.03 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Sadly, a few of its other scores in the category weren't as favorable as these.
