Long-term Care Quality
In addition to receiving a great overall grade, this facility also received an A+ long-term care grade. When nursing homes receive a grade in this range in long-term care it typically means it's well-staffed and is an overall good place to live on a permanent basis. One of the statistics we considered on top of this nursing home's quality nursing hours is vaccinations. This facility administered the pneumonia vaccination to 100 percent of its patients. Vaccines are a great way to avoid unnecessary hospitalizations for seniors. This combination proved to be effective as this place also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

This facility boasts a really impressive 4.5 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis, of which a significant percentage was provided by registered nurses. This is one of the more highly trained levels of nurses. On top of providing impressive levels of nursing care, this place also excelled in several of the quality measures we assessed. With less than five percent of its residents suffering from pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any nursing home the country in this category.
Facility Inspections
This nursing home also received a nearly flawless inspection report. It received one of our best grades in that category with a score of A. Our inspection scores are based on several pieces of information found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities that receive favorable grades in this area typically have few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these facilities generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Short-term Care Quality
In the final area, this facility also was given a very strong short-term care rating, with an A-. This completed a very favorable report card. Short-term care grades are critical for individuals needing rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually utilizes higher levels of skilled nursing. Skilled nursing means a wide spectrum of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. One reason for this facility's strong score in this category is that it provides more care with registered nurses to its residents than the average nursing home.
