Facility Inspections
Although we did not rate this nursing home favorably overall, we want to point out its excellent inspections in recent years. We awarded them an A- in this category. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in calculating our inspection scores. One key factor is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more important than the number of deficiencies, as some of these are relatively insignificant. This nursing home received 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none were considered to be severe. This means that the inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies to pose an immediate threat to patient safety or health. A few minor deficiencies aren't the end of the world.
Short-term Care Quality
We awarded this facility just a D for our short-term care rating and that actually turned out to be its next most favorable category. Our short-term care grades are probably more critical for individuals requiring rehabilitation services. Rehabilitation typically mandates more skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing means not only nursing, but also physical and respiratory therapy, as well as other types of therapy. With a grade this poor in this area, we weren't surprised to learn that this nursing home was well below average in many staffing figures we focus on. The facility offered significantly fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per patient than most other facilities. The last measure we looked at in this area is the percentage of residents who ultimately were able to return home from the nursing home. This nursing home struggled quite a bit in this metric as well, with just 5.2 percent of its residents returning home. Unfortunately, this was well below average.

Long-term Care Quality
This facility's second least favorable category was long-term care, where it earned a grade of just D in that category. This is a relatively poor grade. Long-term care ratings in this range generally are a bad sign for the quantity and quality of care provided by nurses and aids, as well as the levels of routine medical care available. After looking at the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination records. Frankly, we were a bit concerned this facility vaccinated 67.21311 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is quite a bit less than the national average. Surprisingly, this place was actually decent at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had just 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. This is its best feature in this category.
Nurse Quality
Turning to the next category, we awarded this facility a grade of D for nursing. This is the facility's least impressive category rating. In computing our nursing ratings, we factor in both staffing levels and the training levels of the nurses. With just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident daily, this place's nurse staffing levels were quite a bit below average. To go along with its low totals in the area of nursing hours per resident, this place also didn't perform as well in the quality-based measures we looked at in determining our nursing ratings. We looked at the percentage of residents sustaining major falls and pressure ulcers. This facility had more pressure ulcers and falls than the average nursing home.
