In addition to being a strong nursing home overall, this facility also excelled in the category of short-term care, where it received a grade of A+. In computing our short-term care scores, we size up the nursing home's levels of skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists occupational therapists and other highly skilled individuals. This category is more often than not a fair assessment of the nursing home's rehabilitation. Fortunately, this nursing home offers both physical therapists and registered nurses. Not all facilities offer both. The last item we looked at in this category is the percentage of residents that who were able to eventually return home from the facility. We found that 6 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.

We also wanted to emphasize the fact that this facility excelled in our nursing rating. We awarded them an impressive grade of A+ in this category. Nursing grades are primarily tied to the facility's level of nurse staffing. This facility provided 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality-based metrics and this place excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any facility the state in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can typically be prevented by offering better nursing care, such as having a system of moving a patient more frequently.

Turning our next category, this nursing home received a strong long-term care grade. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A in this area. In a long-term care environment, the nursing home's primary objective is to maintain patients' quality of life and keep them safe. One of the datapoints we considered after nursing hours is vaccinations. Unfortunately, it does not appear that this facility submitted vaccination data. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. It had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Adding to its impressive category grades, this nursing home also excelled in the area of inspections, where it received an A. This wrapped up a straight A report card for this nursing home. Arguably the most significant factor we look at in calculating our inspection ratings is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a facility's inspection reports. Nursing homes with higher scores in this category typically avoided the more severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. Unfortunately, we were not able to locate information on deficiency's for this nursing home. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
