Short-term Care Quality
Neither this nursing home's overall score nor its category grades gave us anything positive to point out. Its best area was short-term care, but even there it received just a D. In determining our short-term care scores, we assess a nursing home's levels of skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists respiratory therapists and other highly skilled individuals. This category is more often than not a solid measure of a facility's rehabilitation services. Unfortunately, we found that this nursing home provided fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other facilities. Lastly, we considered the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that just 44.6 percent of this facility's residents returned home.
Nurse Quality
One of the other reasons we graded this facility so highly is that it earned a very impressive nursing grade. In fact, nursing turned out to be its second best category grade. In that area, we gave this facility a grade of D. Nursing scores are tied to quality and quantity of nursing care. This facility offered just 3 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. This facility also had abysmal scores in some of the quality-based measures to pair with its low nursing hour totals. We looked at the percent of residents suffering pressure ulcers and we were very disappointed. This facility was at roughly 1.5 times the national average in this statistic. This is a bad sign in light of the fact that many bed sores could be avoided with better nursing care. This metric helped pull down this nursing home's nursing grade quite a bit.

Facility Inspections
Among this facility's alarming category grades was an F for its inspection grade. More often than not, this means we found some red flags on the facility's inspection reports. You should pay special attention to any deficiencies on a facility's inspection reports when it receives this poor of an inspection score. We suggest you pay close attention to the severity of those deficiencies. This nursing home was hit with 5 deficiencies by government inspectors. The only positive thing we can say is that none of the deficiencies were in the categories that suggest they caused a risk to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility also received 34 substantiated complaints in recent years. This is yet another bad sign.
Long-term Care Quality
Switching gears to our next category, this nursing home really did not perform well in this category either. Due to a rock bottom grade of F in long-term care, this is about as as uninspiring as it gets. Facilities that do not fare well in this category typically are not as well-staffed and are lagging in a few of the areas of routine healthcare services we looked at. One of the statistics we considered after nurse's aid hours was vaccines. This nursing home provided the pneumonia vaccine to 92.87834 percent of its residents. Lastly, we looked at the facility's number of hospitalizations. Here we found that this place fared poorly with 3.23 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Sadly, this figure is nearly twice the national average.
