Facility Inspections
Although we did not rate this facility well overall, we want to note its decent health inspection reports in recent years. We awarded it a relatively respectable grade of B- in this area. Inspection ratings are tied to several items located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are an important thing to look for on these reports. Severe deficiencies indicate a risk to the well being of residents. Unfortunately, we were not able to locate deficiency counts for this nursing home. Finally, CMS cited this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. Hopefully, its performance improves in the future, but until then we simply can't recommend this facility.
Nurse Quality
This nursing home actually received a decent grade in the area of nursing as well. We awarded it a grade of B- for that category, which is not a bad score. Our nursing rating is largely associated with the nursing home's nurse staffing. This facility provides 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident each day. This is a much lower figure than we were hoping for. Lastly, while this facility got dinged a bit for nursing hours, it actually excelled in a few of our quality-based metrics. With less than five percent of its patients suffering from pressure ulcers, it did well in this metric.

Short-term Care Quality
The next category we looked at is short-term care, where this facility was given a grade of B- in this category. Our short-term care grade is typically employed to assess a facility's performance with rehabilitation To offer highly graded rehabilitation services, facilities generally need to have better levels of highly skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other licensed professionals. In this facility's case, we were surprised to learn that it actually provides less registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than the typical facility. The hope is always that this does not adversely impact the quality of care. The last datapoint we assessed in this area is the percentage of patients who ultimately were able to return home from the facility. We found that just 6.2 percent of this facility's residents returned home. Unfortunately, this was below average.
Long-term Care Quality
The next area we scored is long-term care. We gave it a grade of B- in this area. This is a perfectly acceptable grade in this area. For long-term care residents, the nursing home's primary goal is to maintain patients' quality of life and keep them safe. After assessing the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we turned to the facility's vaccination record. This facility vaccinated 99.03846 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which is better than the vast majority of nursing homes. Lastly, this facility was also able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
