Nurse Quality
On top of being a first rate facility overall, this nursing home also excelled in the area of nursing, where it received an A+. Few nursing homes performed better in this category. Nursing grades are tied to quantity of nursing care available. This nursing home averages 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home performed very well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Short-term Care Quality
An additional reason we graded this nursing home so highly is that it was awarded an A+ short-term care score. This is flat out as strong as it gets in this area. Short-term care grades are generally used to score a nursing home's rehabilitation services. To have highly rated rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally must have higher levels of highly skilled nursing services. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other licensed professionals. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we assessed the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 5.7 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

Long-term Care Quality
Turning our third category, this nursing home was given a strong long-term care score. In fact, we awarded it a score of A in that area. For prospective patients seeking a permanent residence rather than rehabilitation, long-term care grades are very important. Once we looked at the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination record. This facility vaccinated 92.8 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which happens to be a bit below what we were hoping for but still a reasonably acceptable percentage. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
Facility Inspections
Turning to our inspection category, this nursing home excelled in that area, which is based on the facility's recent government inspections. In fact, we gave it an elite grade of A- for that category. This finished off its straight A report card. Perhaps the most significant factor we look at in calculating our inspection ratings is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a facility's inspection reports. Facilities with higher scores in this category typically avoided the more severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. It doesn't look like we were able to find deficiency counts for this nursing home. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
