Short-term Care Quality
In addition to being a first-rate facility overall, this facility also excelled in the category of short-term care, where it received an A+. Few nursing homes performed better in this category. In the category of short-term care, we try to evaluate indicators of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. We assess a nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses and physical and occupational therapists. This place is the gold standard in terms of skilled nursing staffing. The facility offered roughly 50% more physical therapist and registered nurse hours per patient than the average nursing home. Finally, we looked at the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that it outperformed the vast majority of facilities in the nation with 72.6 percent of its patients returning home. This is a significantly higher rate than most nursing homes.
Long-term Care Quality
This facility also was given an A+ long-term care grade, rendering it one of the few nursing homes to be awarded several A+ category grades. Facilities that excel in this category tend to be well-staffed and offer extensive hands on care to patients. In addition to patient-friendly nursing hour statistics, this nursing home's vaccination data is superb as well. Indeed, this nursing home vaccinated 97.46835 percent of its residents against pneumonia. Finally, we looked at the facility's number of hospitalizations. We found that this nursing home had 2.73 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days.
Facility Inspections
This facility has had near flawless inspections in recent years. We gave them an A in this category. Inspection ratings weigh several factors, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these issues by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This facility received 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none of the deficiencies were considered severe. This tells you that the government inspectors didn't deem any of these deficiencies to create an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Nurse Quality
In our final area, this nursing home also received an impressive nursing grade, with a grade of A. This rounded out a straight A report card. There are a number of subcategories within this category. Most of the factors are tied to levels of nurse staffing. This facility provided 5.2 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This was one of the more impressive figures we found. In addition, a significant portion of this care was provided by registered nurses, which are highly skilled nurses. On top of offering impressive levels of care, this facility also performed well in several of the quality-based metrics we assessed. By way of illustration, in terms of the number of its patients suffering falls leading to major injury, this place performed as well as any nursing home the country. Preventing major falls is typically an indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can frequently be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.
