Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-plus

In addition to receiving a great overall grade, this nursing home also received an A+ short-term care grade. Our short-term care grades are considered to be more important for people needing rehabilitation services. Rehabilitation generally utilizes more skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing means not merely nursing, but also physical and respiratory therapy, as well as other forms of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we assessed the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 7.1 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

Facility Inspections

Grade: B-plus

We also wanted to emphasize this nursing home's nearly flawless government inspections in recent years. We awarded them an impressive grade of B+ in this category. Inspection ratings weigh a host of factors found on a facility's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we look at is the number and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with higher scores in this category tend to have few of these severe deficiencies. While this nursing home had some minor dings on its government inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you CMS did not consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A few minor dings aren't necessarily something to panic about.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

Adding to its profile, this facility also earned a grade of B+ for its nursing rating. This is a well above average score in this category. In computing our nursing scores, we analyze both nursing hours and the training levels of those nurses. This facility provided 0.6 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality-based metrics and this facility excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any place the country in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can often be prevented by offering better nursing care, such as employing a protocol of turning residents more frequently.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: C

The final category we scored is long-term care, where this nursing home received a grade of C. This is this nursing home's weakest area. This is still not a bad grade. For residents looking for a permanent place to live as opposed to rehabilitation, long-term care grades are very important. On top of considering the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home provided the vaccine to 95.833336 percent of its residents, which is better than most nursing homes. This facility also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
