Nurse Quality

Grade: A-plus

One of the many reasons this turned out to be a great nursing home is that it received an A+ nursing grade. This is simply as good as it gets in this category. There are a number of subcategories included in this category. Most of the factors relate to staffing levels. This nursing home provides 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can many times be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A

In addition, this nursing home also received a nearly flawless government inspection report. As a result, it earned one of our highest grades in that category with an A. Inspection ratings weigh several factors included in a nursing home's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we weigh heavily is the number and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with better scores in this area generally have few severe deficiencies. Unfortunately, we were not able to track down information on deficiency's for this nursing home. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

This nursing home also was strong in the category of short-term care, where we gave it a grade of A. Few facilities fared better in this category. In computing our short-term care grades, we size up a facility's levels of highly skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists occupational therapists and other licensed professionals. This category is often a reliable measure of the nursing home's rehabilitation. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last metric we considered in this area is the number of patients who were able to leave the facility and return home. We found that 6.6 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

In our last category, this nursing home also received a very strong long-term care score, with a grade of A. This topped off a very impressive profile. Facilities that excel in this category typically provide residents with better supervision and stay on top of routine healthcare services. After we finished assessing the volume of care provided by nurses, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination statistics. This facility vaccinated 97.83394 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is very impressive. Pneumonia sadly can be a life or death health condition for nursing home patients so we prefer when a nursing home does not leave this to chance. Lastly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
