Facility Inspections
While this nursing home's overall grade was not a highlight, it actually received a very good grade in the category of inspections. In fact, we awarded it a grade of B+ for that category, which is one of our better scores. Perhaps the most important factor we consider in computing our inspection grades is deficiencies. These deficiencies can be found on a facility's inspection reports. It is typically in your best interest to avoid places that have a long list of severe deficiencies. Although this nursing home had some deficiencies on its report, none were serious based on CMS' scale. A couple minor deficiencies aren't necessarily the end of the world.
Long-term Care Quality
One of this facility's better category scores came in the category of long-term care. This ended up being its second most respectable category. In that area, we gave this nursing home a C. In calculating our long-term care ratings, we assess the nursing home's ability to maintain its permanent residents' health and quality of life. On top of looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility administered the vaccine to 99.583336 percent of its residents. Finally, this facility was also able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Nurse Quality
We awarded this facility a respectable grade in the area of nursing as well, with a grade of C. The nursing category includes a handful of datapoints, most of which are based on levels of nurse staffing. This facility provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this place surprisingly fared better in some of the quality measures we assessed. In fact, it performed well in the area of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.
Short-term Care Quality
Switching gears to our final category, we awarded this facility a grade of D in the area of short-term care. This was the facility's weakest category rating. Short-term care ratings are based in part on the nursing home's quantity of skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This includes a wide scope of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, in addition to other forms of therapy. Considering its score in this category, we were not stunned to find that this place was well below average in terms of its quantity of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its patients based on the metrics we assessed. Honestly, this was about what we expected to find. The last measure we assessed in this area is the number of residents that who were able to eventually return home from the facility. This nursing home struggled quite a bit in this area as well, with just 3.7 percent of its patients returning home.
