To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A for our nursing rating. Our nursing score is based on several components, most of which are based on levels of nurse staffing. This particular nursing home provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well when it comes to minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

This facility also fared very well in the area of short-term care, where we gave it a score of A-. Very few nursing homes performed better in this area. Our short-term care grade is generally used to gauge a facility's rehabilitation services. In order to offer highly rated rehabilitation services, facilities generally must feature higher levels of highly skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other highly trained professionals. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last datapoint we assessed in this category is the number of patients that who were able to eventually return home from the facility. We found that 5.4 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.

This facility also earned a nearly flawless inspection report. As a result, it received one of our best grades in that category with an A-. Arguably the most important factor we consider in computing our inspection scores is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a facility's inspection reports. Facilities with higher grades in this area most likely dodged the most severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. This facility was hit with 9 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none were considered to be severe deficiencies. This indicates that the inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies to cause an immediate threat to patient health or safety. We should note that deficiency-free inspections are uncommon in this industry.

In the final category, this nursing home also received a first-rate long-term care rating, with a B+. This wrapped up a very impressive profile. Facilities that receive this kind of score in this category typically provide consistent 24/7 care to make sure residents are kept in good health. After considering the volume of nursing care, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination records. This facility vaccinated 100 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is very impressive. Pneumonia tragically can be a dangerous illness for nursing home residents so we strongly prefer when a nursing home doesn't leave this to chance. Lastly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
