While this nursing home's overall grade was as bad as it gets, it actually didn't perform terribly in the area of inspections. In fact, we awarded it a C for that category, which is one of our better scores. Our inspection scores are based on many datapoints found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are a key item to look for on these inspections. Severe deficiencies indicate a risk to resident safety. This nursing home was hit with 8 deficiencies on its government inspection report, but fortunately none were in categories G through L. This indicates inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies to create an imminent risk to resident health or safety. Unfortunately, we also need to draw your attention to the fact that this facility received significant government fines in recent years.

We were also surprised to discover that this facility received a solid short-term care grade in our assessment. We awarded it a C in that area. Our short-term care ratings are vital for people needing rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically mandates higher levels of skilled nursing. This means a vast range of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. In this facility's case, we were surprised to learn that it actually provides less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per patient than a typical facility. The hope is that this does not adversely affect the quality of care. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 4.8 percent of this facility's patients returned home. At most nursing homes, closer to half of their residents are able to return home so this figure is below average.

Unfortunately, this facility only received a grade of D for its nursing grade, which was actually one of its better category grades. When determining a facility's nursing rating, we assess the amount of time nurses are seeing patients and the levels of training of those nurses. This facility averaged a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This is an alarmingly low total. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing scores. This facility fared well when it comes to minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.

The final category we scored was long-term care, which ended up being a weak spot for this nursing home. We awarded this nursing home a grade of just D for long-term care. When facilities receive a grade in this range in long-term care it typically means the nursing home did not perform well in our quality measures relating to resident care. On top of considering the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility vaccinated 59.139786 percent of its residents. This is several points below what we were hoping for. To our surprise, this facility was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.03 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home had less hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes. This was its best score in this category.
