Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A+ for our inspections rating. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in determining our inspection grades. One critical factor is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of the deficiencies is arguably more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some deficiencies end up being relatively minor. This facility was assessed 7 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none were considered severe. This tells you that the inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies to pose an imminent risk to resident health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Among this nursing home's other accomplishments is its first-rate long-term care grade. We awarded them one of our strongest grades in that category, with a grade of A-. For long-term care residents, the facility's primary objective is to keep patients as healthy and safe as possible. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate residents. In addition to assessing the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home vaccinated 92.0354 percent of its residents. This is a few points less than we anticipated but still a reasonably acceptable figure. Finally, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: C

We also gave this nursing home a decent grade in the category of short-term care, with a grade of C. Our short-term care scores are likely most important for individuals needing rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation usually utilizes additional skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing means not merely nursing services, but also physical and occupational therapy, as well as other types of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The final metric we considered in this category is the number of residents who who were able to eventually return home from the facility. We found that just 0 percent of this facility's patients returned home. Unfortunately, this was below the national average.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

Turning to the next area, we gave this nursing home a grade of D for the area of nursing. This is the nursing home's weakest category score. Unfortunately, this score hurt the nursing home's overall grade a bit. The nursing rating analyzes many factors, however, the most important consideration is the quantity of nurse hours per patient per week. This facility offered just 0.4 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in calculating our nursing scores. This facility fared well when it comes to minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.
