Facility Inspections
We also wanted to emphasize that this nursing home has received near flawless inspections recently. We gave them an impressive grade of A+ in this category. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in determining these inspection ratings. One critical factor is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of the deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some are quite minor. This nursing home received 7 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none were considered to be major deficiencies. This indicates that CMS did not consider any of these deficiencies to cause an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home was given impressive marks in the category of long-term care as well. In fact, we gave it one of our strongest grades in that area with a area of A-. For prospective residents looking for a permanent place to live as opposed to skilled nursing, long-term care is a very important category. Once we assessed the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we then looked at the facility's vaccination data. This facility vaccinated 68.06723 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which happens to be somewhat below what we anticipated but still a reasonably acceptable figure. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.04 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Short-term Care Quality
This facility was awarded a favorable short-term care grade as well. We awarded it one of our better scores in that area with a grade of B. Our short-term care grade is typically used to assess a facility's rehabilitation services In order to have highly rated rehabilitation services, facilities generally need to feature better levels of skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other highly trained professionals. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. However, based on the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 5.6 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.
Nurse Quality
The next category we graded is nursing. We awarded this facility a decent grade in this category, with a grade of B-. Even though this is not on par with several of this nursing home's other grades, it is still a middle of the pack score. There are a host of factors within this grade. Many of the factors reflect staffing levels. This facility provides only 0.4 hours of nursing care per patient each day. This is a somewhat uninspiring figure as it is well below the national average. Lastly, our nursing grades also factor in some quality-focused measures. We especially look at the percentage of residents who suffered pressure ulcers and major falls. Sometimes these metrics are indicators of the quality of nursing care, since superior care can reduce these issues.
