Short-term Care Quality
In addition to being a strong facility overall, this facility also excelled in the area of short-term care, where it received an A+. Our short-term care grade is often used to grade a facility's performance with rehabilitation. In order to have high-end rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally need to have higher levels of skilled nursing. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other licensed professionals. This place is the gold standard in terms of skilled nursing staffing. The facility supplied about 1.5 times as many registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than the typical facility. The final datapoint we assessed in this area is the percentage of patients that ultimately returned home from the facility. We found that it performed as well as just about any facility in Washington in this area with 57.2 percent of its patients returning home. At most facilities, fewer than half of their short-term residents are able to return home.
Long-term Care Quality
Adding to its superb profile, this nursing home also excelled in our long-term care area. In fact, we awarded it a score of A for the area. Long-term care scores of this caliber generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine medical care. Once we assessed the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination statistics. This nursing home vaccinated 96.644295 percent of its patients for pneumonia. Vaccines are critical to keeping residents healthy. Lastly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 1.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home has fewer hospitalizations than most nursing homes.
Facility Inspections
Another impressive feature of this facility is its inspection grade. In that category, we awarded this facility an A. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in computing these inspection ratings. One key factor is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of these deficiencies is usually more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some deficiencies are quite insignificant. This place was hit with 6 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered severe. This indicates that the inspectors didn't consider any of these deficiencies an imminent risk to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Nurse Quality
In the last category we graded, this nursing home was awarded a very strong grade of A in our nursing category. With this score, the facility rounded out a straight A profile. There are a number of criteria included in this category. Many of these data points reflect levels of nurse staffing. This facility provides an incredible 4.3 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis. Out of that total, many of the hours were provided by registered nurses, which is one of the most highly trained levels of nurses. On top of providing high levels of care, this facility also fared well in several of the quality measures we looked at. In terms of the percentage of its patients suffering from pressure ulcers, this place outpaced the national average.
