Facility Inspections

Grade: A

This facility earned a solid overall grade as described above, but we really wanted to point out its excellent inspections in recent years. We gave them an A in this category. Inspection ratings are based on several pieces of information found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that excel in this area have few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. While this facility had some minor dings on its report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those found in categories G through L. This means CMS did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

Another one of this facility's higher category scores was in the category of long-term care. In that category, we awarded this nursing home a grade of B+. Nursing homes that receive this type of score in long-term care tend to provide consistent around the clock care to make sure patients are well cared for. After assessing the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we then looked at the nursing home's vaccination records. This nursing home vaccinated 89.385475 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is a bit lower than we expected but still a decent figure. While its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we hoped for, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.05 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

This facility's next best area ended up being its short-term care score, where it was given a grade of B-. With our short-term care grade, we strive to forge a fair barometer for rehabilitation. In doing so, we assess the facility's level of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last metric we considered in this category is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return home. We discovered that just 0 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is actually below average.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

Moving on to the final area, we gave this nursing home a grade of D for nursing. This is the nursing home's worst category score. Of course, this grade hurt the facility's overall grade to a certain degree. Nursing scores are based largely on nurse staffing levels. This place offered just 0.6 hours of nursing care per patient each day. This is an alarmingly low total. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in calculating our nursing scores. This place performed well in terms of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these statistics to be good measures of the quality of nursing care.
