Facility Inspections

Grade: A

This facility earned a solid overall grade as described above, but we really wanted to point out its excellent inspections in recent years. We gave them an A in this category. Inspection ratings are based on several pieces of information found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that excel in this area have few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. While this facility had some minor dings on its report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those found in categories G through L. This means CMS did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is always a good sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

Another one of this facility's higher category scores was in the category of long-term care. In that category, we awarded this nursing home a grade of B+. Nursing homes that receive this type of score in long-term care tend to provide consistent around the clock care to make sure patients are well cared for. After assessing the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we then looked at the nursing home's vaccination records. This nursing home vaccinated 91.44385 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is a bit lower than we expected but still a decent figure. Lastly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

Moving on to another strength for this facility, it also earned an elite nursing rating. We gave this nursing home an impressive grade of D. There are numerous criteria included in this area. Most of these datapoints reflect staffing levels. This place offered just 0.5 hours of nursing care per patient each day. This is well below average. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in calculating our nursing grades. This facility fared well when it comes to avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: F

The final category we analyzed is short-term care, which proved to be this nursing home's least impressive category. Sadly, it received a lowly F for this category, which is clearly a major concern. Short-term care grades are based in part on the nursing home's quantity of highly-skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This includes a broad range of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. With a score in this range in this area, we weren't shocked to discover this nursing home was below average in several staffing areas we looked at. It provided significantly fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per patient than most other nursing homes. The last metric we looked at in this area is the percentage of patients who ultimately returned home from the nursing home. This facility struggled quite a bit in this area as well, with just 3.6 percent of its residents returning home. This was well below the national average.
