Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

To pair with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home an A+ for the area of inspections. Our inspection ratings are tied to many pieces of information found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities that receive favorable grades in this category have very few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these places should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. This place received 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none were considered to be major deficiencies. This means that CMS didn't deem any of these deficiencies to create an immediate threat to resident safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

In addition, this nursing home also was given favorable long-term care grades this year. Indeed, we gave it one of our higher scores in that area, with a grade of B+. For long-term care residents, the facility's primary objective is to keep patients as healthy and safe as possible. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate patients. Once we concluded our assessment of the volume of nursing care, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination records. This facility vaccinated 77.5076 percent of its residents against pneumonia. Although its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we like to see, we were pleased to find facility was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

This nursing home also was given an impressive short-term care score. Indeed, we awarded it an above average score of B in this category. Our short-term care grades are probably more meaningful for residents needing rehabilitation services. Rehabilitation usually utilizes more skilled nursing services. This includes not only nursing services, but also physical and speech therapy, as well as other variations of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. However, based on the information this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Finally, we looked at the number of patients who were able to return home from this facility. We found that 5.8 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

Switching gears to our final area, we awarded this nursing home a D in our nursing category. This is the nursing home's worst category rating. Naturally, this grade hurt the facility's overall profile to a certain degree. The nursing grade consists of a handful of data points, many of which are associated with levels of nurse staffing. With just 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient each day, this place's nurse staffing levels were significantly below the national average. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing ratings. This place fared well in the area of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers.
