Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

While we gave this nursing home a terrible overall grade, we awarded it a grade of B- for our nursing category. In determining a nursing home's nursing score, we weigh the number of hours nurses spend with patients as well as the level of licensure of the nurses. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This figure is far below the national average. Lastly, despite not having the most impressive total nursing hours, this nursing home performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is typically an indicator that a nursing home has sufficient quality controls in place.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

Moving on to the category of long-term care, this nursing home received a grade of just D in this area. Sadly, this wound up being one of its better grades. Facilities that receive this kind of score in long-term care likely don't provide the type of consistent 24/7 care that some other nursing homes offer. After considering the volume of nursing care, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination records. We were a bit alarmed this nursing home vaccinated a relatively low 26.93727 percent of its residents against pneumonia. Surprisingly, this facility actually fared well at keeping its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had just 0.06 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. This was its best feature in this category.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: D

We gave this facility just a D for our short-term care grade. This is not a score to write home about. In our short-term care assessment, we try to forge a valuable barometer for rehabilitation. In doing so, we analyze a nursing home's levels of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. Given its score in this area, we were not stunned to find that this nursing home was well below average in terms of its number of physical therapy and registered nurse hours offered to its patients based on the metrics we assessed. Finally, we considered the number of residents who ultimately were able to return home from this facility. This facility didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 4.6 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit off the national average.

Facility Inspections

Grade: F

Turning our last category of inspections, this nursing home received an F here. For facilities with poor inspection grades, you should really scrutinize any severe deficiencies found on their recent inspection reports. This nursing home had one category G through L deficiency, which rank among the more severe deficiencies. This generally indicates that the deficiencies identified by CMS had potential to create actual harm to patients. Another red flag is that CMS cited this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. Hopefully, its performance improves in the future, but until then we simply can't recommend this facility.
