Facility Inspections

Grade: A

On top of receiving a great overall rating, this facility also performed well in inspections, which is based on its inspection reports. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A in that category. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in determining these inspection scores. One critical factor is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of the deficiencies is usually more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some deficiencies are quite minor. This facility received 7 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe. This indicates that CMS did not consider any of these deficiencies to create an imminent risk to resident health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

This facility also was elite in the category of long-term care, where we gave it a score of A. Only a select group of facilities fared better in this category. If you are seeking services other than short-term rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each facility's long-term care grades. After considering the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination data. This facility vaccinated 55.309734 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which happens to be a bit below what we were hoping for but still a decent figure. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

To complement its strong performance in other areas, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A for our inspections rating. The nursing score features a number of factors. The most heavily weighted one is the amount of time nurses spend with residents. This nursing home averages 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality measures and this facility excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any place the state in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can often be prevented by providing better nursing care, such as employing a system of turning patients at least once a day.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The final area we graded was short-term care. In that category, we awarded this nursing home a decent grade of B-. This ended up being this nursing home's least impressive category. Our short-term care grades are vital for prospective residents needing rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually mandates higher levels of highly-skilled nursing. This includes a vast spectrum of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. However, according to the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last metric we looked at in this area is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the facility and return home. We discovered that just 4.2 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is actually below average.
