Facility Inspections

Grade: B-plus

This facility's best category grade came in the area of inspections. In this category, we gave this facility a B+. It actually outperformed most nursing homes in this area. Perhaps the most significant factor we look at in calculating our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes with higher scores in this category most likely avoided the more severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. Although this nursing home had some deficiencies on its report, none were severe based on CMS' deficiency scale. A few minor deficiencies aren't something to panic about.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B

This facility also excelled in nursing, where it received an B. Few facilities fared better in this area. Our nursing score analyzes several components, however, the primary one is the quantity of nurse hours spent with patients. This particular nursing home provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality-based metrics and this nursing home excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any facility the country in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can often be prevented by providing better nursing care, such as by employing a system of turning a resident at least once a day.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The next highest category we awarded this nursing home in any category came in the category of short-term care, where we awarded it a grade of B-. In the area of short-term care, we attempt to assess measures of a facility's rehabilitation services. We assess the nursing home's skilled nursing services, including the ones performed by registered nurses and various therapists. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final measure we assessed in this area is the number of patients who were able to leave the facility and return home. We discovered that just 0 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home, which is below average.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

The last category we assessed is long-term care, is this nursing home's worst category. We gave this facility a grade of D in that area. This is one of the few weak points on an otherwise impressive profile. For residents seeking a permanent place to live rather than skilled nursing, long-term care is an important category. In addition to looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home administered the vaccine to 95.06173 percent of its residents. To our surprise, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this facility had fewer hospitalizations than the average nursing home. Sadly, a few of its other scores in this category weren't as favorable as these.
