Registered Staff Hours
Nurse Quality
We really weren't high on this nursing home's overall scores or its category scores. We gave it a just D in nursing and that proved to be its highest grade. Our nursing rating is largely based on the nursing home's level of nurse staffing. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in calculating our nursing grades. This nursing home performed well in terms of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. Many consider these statistics to be measures of the quality of nursing care.
Facility Inspections
Unfortunately, this facility earned an F for its inspection grade. This is a particularly important category. Grades in this range generally point to some red flags on the facility's inspection reports. For nursing homes with bad inspection scores, you should focus on any severe deficiencies found on their inspection reports. This nursing home was hit with a category L deficiency, which is the most serious category of deficiencies. This means CMS found a widespread deficiency placing resident safety or health in imminent jeopardy. Even a single deficiency of this severity really pulls a nursing home's inspection score down. Finally, we need to point out that this facility received large government fines recently totaling more than $100,000. This usually means that a facility'spoor performance has been an issue for several years.

Short-term Care Quality
Our third category we looked at is short-term care, in which this facility received an F. In calculating our short-term care scores, we look at the nursing home's levels of highly skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists speech therapists and other highly skilled individuals. This score is frequently a fair assessment of a facility's rehabilitation services. Given its weak score in this area, we were not shocked to discover that this nursing home offered significantly fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per patient than most other nursing homes. The final statistic we assessed in this category is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that just 4.1 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home, which is well below average. The combination of these poor statistics was damning for this facility's short-term care grade.
Long-term Care Quality
The next category we rated was long-term care. Sadly, it received an abysmal F in this category, which is an abysmal score. Nursing homes that receive this kind of grade in long-term care may not provide the type of consistent around the clock care that some other nursing homes provide. On top of considering the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. As it turns out, this facility gave the vaccine to just 79.75078 percent of its patients, which is a bit of a concern. To our surprise, this facility was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility had less hospitalizations than many nursing homes. This is its best feature in this category.
