Facility Inspections
While we were fairly low on this nursing home overall, we awarded it an A- for our inspections rating. This score is far more impressive than the nursing home's overall grade. These inspection ratings take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these factors by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This particular nursing home received 4 deficiencies on its inspection report. Overall, this is still a solid inspection report, but we'd always recommend looking into any deficiencies you find troubling.
Long-term Care Quality
One of this facility's better category grades was in the area of long-term care. This wound up being its second most favorable category. In that category, we awarded this facility a C. Our long-term care scores are more important for residents in need of more traditional assistance associated with activities of daily living. On top of assessing the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. We were a bit concerned this facility vaccinated only 61.4786 percent of its patients. On a more positive note, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality
We were surprised to find that this facility also excelled in the category of nursing. In fact, we awarded it a score of D for that category, which is one of our highest scores. When calculating our nursing scores, we weigh both staffing levels and the training levels of those nurses. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in computing our nursing grades. This facility performed well in the area of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these datapoints to be good measures of the quality of nursing care.
Short-term Care Quality
Moving on to the final area, this nursing home really didn't perform well in this area either. With a rock bottom grade of F in short-term care, this is just about as as uninspiring as it gets. In determining our short-term care ratings, we quantify the facility's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. The purpose is to create a measure for comparing the rehabilitation services of different facilities. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. Lastly, we considered the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that just 4.7 percent of this facility's patients returned home.
