Facility Inspections
The main reason this turned out to be a decent nursing home is that it received an elite inspection grade. In fact, its inspection score was far better than its overall score. In the inspections category, we gave it an A. Our inspection grades account for a host of factors included in a facility's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we rely on is the number and severity of deficiencies. Facilities with better grades in this category usually have few severe deficiencies. This facility received 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered severe. This means that the government inspectors didn't deem any of these deficiencies to create an immediate risk to resident health or safety. A couple relatively minor deficiencies aren't necessarily something to panic about.
Long-term Care Quality
The second most favorable area we gave this facility in any area came in the area of long-term care, where we awarded it a grade of B-. If you are seeking services other than short-term rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each facility's long-term care scores. Once we looked at the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination statistics. We were disappointed to learn that this facility vaccinated only 76.03306 percent of its patients against pneumonia. Nevertheless, this facility excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality
One of this facility's better category grades was in the area of nursing care. In that area, we gave this facility a grade of B-. Nursing scores are heavily correlated with quality and quantity of nursing care. This facility averages 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day, which is a very low figure. Finally, our nursing scores also consider quality-based metrics, such as preventing major falls. Despite not having the highest total nursing hours per resident, this place performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is usually an indicator that a facility has quality controls in place. Many falls could be avoided if a nursing home supplies enough nurses to assist its patients.
Short-term Care Quality
Moving on to our last area, we awarded this nursing home a grade of D in short-term care. This was the facility's worst category grade. Sadly, this score hurt the facility's overall grade to a certain degree. With our short-term care rating, we try to craft a valuable barometer for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we assess the nursing home's offerings of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. Unfortunately, we found that this nursing home provided fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other facilities. Finally, we considered the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. This definitely was not a strength for this nursing home. We found that just 4.7 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home. At most nursing homes, about half of their patients are able to return home so this is well below average.
