Facility Inspections
To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A for our inspections rating. Arguably the most critical factor we consider in computing our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a facility's recent inspection reports. Facilities with higher grades in this category typically dodged the more severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. Although this facility had some deficiencies on its government inspection report, none of them were serious based on CMS' deficiency scale. A few minor deficiencies are not the end of the world.
Long-term Care Quality
An additional quality feature for this facility is that it received an above average long-term care score. In fact, this proved to be its second best category grade. In that area, we gave this nursing home a B. For patients in need of a permanent residence rather than skilled nursing, long-term care grades are very important. On top of assessing the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility provided the vaccine to 82.02247 percent of its residents. This is somewhat less than we anticipated. Although its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we like to see, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Nurse Quality
This nursing home also received a strong nursing score. In fact, we awarded it an above average grade of B in this area. Our nursing grade includes a number of datapoints. The most heavily weighted variable is the amount of time nurses spent with patients. This facility provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Short-term Care Quality
The last area we graded was short-term care. We gave it a C in this area. This is a perfectly acceptable grade in this category. In the area of short-term care, we seek to qualify indicators of a facility's rehabilitation services. We assess a facility's skilled nursing services, including the ones performed by registered nurses and various therapists. Fortunately, it looks like this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Finally, we assessed the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 4.2 percent of this facility's patients returned home. At most nursing homes, closer to half of their residents are able to return home so this figure is below average.
