Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

While we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it actually received a very impressive government inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our highest grades in that area with an A-. Perhaps the most critical factor we consider in calculating our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a nursing home's inspection reports. It is typically best to avoid places that have too many severe deficiencies. This facility was hit with 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe deficiencies. This tells you that the government inspectors didn't deem any of these deficiencies an imminent risk to patient safety or health. A couple minor deficiencies aren't the end of the world.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

Unfortunately, this facility's next highest score was long-term care. As it turns out, with a grade of D in this category, it still fared relatively poorly. When facilities receive a score in this range in this category it generally means the facility didn't perform well in our quality measures relating to patient care. In addition to looking at the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. Frankly, we were a bit alarmed this facility gave the vaccine to only 80.96357 percent of its patients. Surprisingly, this place actually fared well at keeping its residents out of the hospital. It had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. This is its best feature in this category.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: D

We awarded this nursing home a grade of just D for our short-term care grade. This is not a very good score. Short-term care grades are typically employed to grade a facility's rehabilitation services In order to provide highly rated rehabilitation services, facilities generally must provide higher levels of highly skilled nursing services. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other highly skilled individuals. With a score this poor in this area, we weren't shocked to find that this nursing home was well below average in the two key staffing figures we assess. The facility offered substantially fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most facilities. Finally, we considered the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that just 0 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: F

The final category we assessed is nursing, in which this nursing home received a very poor score in this category as well. Unfortunately, we gave it a lowly F in this area, which is definitely very concerning. When determining a facility's nursing score, we assess the amount of time nurses are caring for patients as well as the levels of training of the nurses. This place offered only 0.2 hours of nursing care per resident each day. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in computing our nursing grades. This nursing home fared well in the area of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.
