Grade: A

With an overall grade this high, it should come as no surprise that this nursing home excelled in inspections, where it earned an A. Our inspection ratings are tied to pieces of information found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities that score well in this area have very few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these facilities generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. This facility was assessed 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe deficiencies. This tells you that the inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies an immediate threat to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

To complement its high-end assessments in other areas, we awarded this nursing home a score of A- for its short-term care grade. In calculating our short-term care scores, we analyze the nursing home's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. The objective is to formulate a tool for comparing the rehabilitation services of various facilities. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. However, according to the data they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last item we considered in this category is the number of residents who returned home from the nursing home. We found that 6.6 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.

Turning the page to our third category, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A- for its long-term care score. This is a superb rating. Facilities that receive this type of score in long-term care typically provide consistent around the clock care to ensure residents are kept in good health. After we finished assessing the amount of nursing care, we then looked at the nursing home's vaccination records. This facility vaccinated 83.333336 percent of its residents for pneumonia. Although its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we had hoped, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

The fourth category we scored is nursing, where this nursing home was given a grade of B+. This finished off a very impressive profile. Not many facilities earned a B+ or higher in in each area we assessed. There are a variety of criteria included in this grade. Many of the criteria relate to the quantity and quality of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality measures and this facility excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any facility the state in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can many times be prevented by providing better nursing care, such as employing a protocol of turning patients even once per day.
