Although we gave this nursing home a poor overall grade, we awarded it a B+ for our inspections rating. This is the result of the facility receiving a decent inspection report this year. Inspection ratings are based on datapoints found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are a key item to look for on these reports. Most importantly, you should avoid facilities with severe deficiencies linked to endangerment of patients. While this nursing home had some minor dings on its government inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are labeled as categories G through L. This tells you the inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A couple minor deficiencies are not necessarily the end of the world.

Turning to the area of nursing care, this facility received a grade of just D in this category. Unfortunately, this ended up being one of its better grades. Nursing ratings are primarily based on the facility's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home offered just 0.2 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis. This is well below average. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This place performed well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. Many consider these statistics to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Unfortunately, we gave this facility an F for its short-term care score. Our short-term care grades are arguably most important for residents requiring a nursing home for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically mandates higher levels of highly-skilled nursing services. This means not merely nursing services, but also physical and occupational therapy, as well as other variations of therapy. Given its abysmal rating in this area, we were not surprised to find this place provides far fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other nursing homes. Lastly, we assessed the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. This definitely wasn't a strength for this facility. We found that just 3.7 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home. At most nursing homes, about half of their residents are able to return home so this is well below average.

The next area we graded was long-term care. Sadly, it received an F in this category, which is a bottom of the barrel grade. When nursing homes receive a grade in this range in long-term care it generally means the nursing home didn't perform well in our quality measures relating to patient care. After considering the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we turned to the facility's vaccination record. Frankly, we were a bit bothered by the fact that this facility vaccinated 76.07655 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which happens to be quite a bit less than the national average. Surprisingly, this place was actually decent at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had just 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. This is its best score in this category.
