Facility Inspections

Grade: A

We also would like to point out the fact that this facility has earned excellent government inspections recently. We gave them an impressive grade of A in this category. Arguably the most critical factor we consider in determining our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a facility's recent inspection reports. Places with better scores in this category most likely dodged the more severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. This nursing home was assessed 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none were considered to be severe. This means that the inspectors didn't deem any of these deficiencies to be an imminent threat to resident safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

Among its many dominant grades, this facility was awarded an excellent long-term care grade. In fact, we gave it a grade of A in this category. For patients seeking a permanent residence as opposed to rehabilitation, long-term care is a very important category. In addition to considering the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility administered the vaccine to 91.803276 percent of its patients. This is a few points less than we anticipated but still a decent percentage. Finally, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

To complement its strong performance in other areas, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A for our inspections rating. When calculating a facility's nursing rating, we weigh the amount of time nurses are seeing patients as well as the levels of training of those nurses. This nursing home provides 0 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality measures and this nursing home excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any place the state in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can generally be avoided by offering better nursing care, such as by employing a policy of moving residents more often.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Switching gears to the next area, this facility received an extremely favorable short-term care grade. In fact, we gave it a grade of A- in that area, resulting in this facility receiving straight A's. Our short-term care grade is often employed to assess a facility's rehabilitation services. To offer highly graded rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally must have better levels of highly skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other types of therapists. We weren't able to track down information on registered nurse or physical therapy staffing for this nursing home. The final statistic we assessed in this category is the number of residents who were able to return home from the nursing home. We found that 5.4 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.
