Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

On top of receiving a great overall score, this nursing home received an A+ inspection rating. This score is based on the facility's recent inspection reports. An A+ in this category is one of the highest complements we can offer a nursing home. Our inspection scores are based on items found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that receive favorable grades in this area typically have very few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-plus

This nursing home also received an A+ long-term care grade, making it one of the few nursing homes to be awarded multiple A+ category scores. Nursing homes that receive this kind of score in long-term care tend to provide consistent 24/7 care to make sure residents are kept in good health. After assessing the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we then looked at the facility's vaccination records. This facility vaccinated 98.9899 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is far higher than most nursing homes. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B

Another strong feature for this facility is that it received an impressive nursing grade. In that area, we awarded this facility a grade of B. Nursing scores are based in large part on nurse staffing levels. This nursing home averages 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This nursing home performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can generally be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: D

The next area we graded was short-term care, which ended up being a weak link for this nursing home. We gave this facility a D in the area of short-term care, making this the nursing home's weakest area. We would nevertheless recommend that you look at the bigger picture. In computing these short-term care ratings, we analyze the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. The objective is to devise a measure for comparing the rehabilitation services of different facilities. In this nursing home's case, we found that it provides less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. Lastly, we considered the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that just 4.9 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.
