Facility Inspections

Grade: A

The primary reason this facility received a decent overall grade is its excellent inspections in recent years. We awarded them one of our higher scores in that area, with a grade of A. This is a notably better score than the facility's overall score, which was decent but not in the elite range. Our inspection scores are based on items located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities that excel in this area have few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these places generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. Although this place had a few deficiencies on its report, none of them were severe based on CMS' deficiency scale. We should point out that deficiency-free inspection reports are uncommon in this industry.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

We also awarded this nursing home a middle of the road grade in the area of long-term care, where we gave it a grade of B-. Our long-term care grades are more important for patients in need of more conventional services related to activities of daily living. After considering the amount of care provided by nurses, we next considered the facility's vaccination statistics. Frankly, we were a bit bothered by the fact that this nursing home vaccinated only 86.26373 percent of its residents for pneumonia. Fortunately, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

The next highest grade we gave this nursing home in any area came in the category of nursing, where we gave it a grade of B-. We analyzed the licensure of nurses working for the facility, as well as the quantity of time the nurses worked with patients, in determining our score in this category. This place provides only 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient each day. This is a somewhat discouraging figure as it is well below average. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this place excelled in some of the quality-based metrics we assessed. It scored well in terms of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be measures of the quality of nursing care. In many cases, the quality of nursing care is just as important as the number of hours of care provided.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: C

Switching gears to the final category, this nursing home was awarded an acceptable short-term care score of C. Our short-term care grades are based in part on the facility's quantity of skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This means a wide range of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last statistic we looked at in this area is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the facility and return home. We discovered that just 4.1 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home, which is actually below average.
