Facility Inspections
We really could not find anything favorable to say about this place. It received a D in the category of inspections. Sadly, this turned out to be its best grade. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in determining our inspection scores. One key factor is health deficiencies. We would scrutinize the severity of the deficiencies. This particular nursing home was assessed 4 deficiencies by CMS. The only positive thing we found is that none of its deficiencies were in the categories that indicate that they created a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, we also would like to draw your attention to the fact that this place received large government fines recently of more than $100,000. This often means that a facility's poor performance has been an issue for more than one year.
Long-term Care Quality
In our next category, we gave this nursing home a rock-bottom F in the area of long-term care. When facilities receive this kind of grade in this category it is often a bad sign for patient care and it may mean that the facility is not as well-staffed with nurses and aids. In addition to considering the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. We were a bit worried that this nursing home administered the vaccine to just 83.45389 percent of its residents. To our surprise, this nursing home was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.03 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home had less hospitalizations than the average nursing home. This was its best feature in this category.

Nurse Quality
Unfortunately, we gave this facility an F for its nursing grade. There are a number of subcategories included in this area. Many of these factors are tied to the quantity of nurse staffing. This place provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. This number is far below the national average. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing ratings. This nursing home performed well when it comes to minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.
Short-term Care Quality
The last area we looked at is short-term care. This facility received a very poor grade of F in this category. Short-term care grades are commonly used to judge a nursing home's rehabilitation services. In order to provide highly scored rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally need to feature better levels of skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other types of therapists. Based on its grade in this area, we weren't stunned to discover that this nursing home was well below average in terms of its quantity of registered nurse and physical therapy hours offered to its patients based on the metrics we looked at. The final metric we looked at in this category is the percentage of patients that ultimately returned home from the facility. This nursing home struggled quite a bit in this area as well, with just 3.2 percent of its patients returning home. This was well below the national average.
