Facility Inspections
We want to point out that this facility really outperformed its overall score in the category of inspections. In fact, it received an excellent government inspection report this year. As a result, we gave it one of our best grades in that area with an A. Arguably the most significant factor we consider in calculating our inspection scores is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a nursing home's inspection reports. Nursing homes with better scores in this category most likely avoided the more severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. Amazingly, this was one of the few nursing homes in the country that had no deficiencies whatsoever on its inspection report. This is very impressive. You really can not do much better than a deficiency-free inspection report.
Nurse Quality
This facility also excelled in our nursing category, where it earned a grade of B. Few places fared better in this category. Our nursing grade is primarily based on the nursing home's nurse staffing. This nursing home averages 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well in terms of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality
This facility's third highest category was its short-term care score, where it was given a grade of B-. Our short-term care ratings are based in part on a facility's quantity of skilled highly skilled professionals. This means a wide spectrum of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the information this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The final statistic we assessed in this area is the percentage of residents that eventually returned home from the nursing home. We found that just 5.1 percent of this facility's residents returned home. Unfortunately, this was below the national average.
Long-term Care Quality
The final category we scored was long-term care. We gave this facility a D in the area of long-term care, leaving this as the facility's least impressive category. When nursing homes receive a score in this range in long-term care it generally means the facility did not perform well in our measures relating to patient care. In addition to assessing the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home provided the vaccine to 73.43284 percent of its residents. This is multiple points lower than what we were hoping for. Surprisingly, this place was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility had fewer hospitalizations than most nursing homes. This was its best feature in this category.
