Facility Inspections
While we were not very complementary of this nursing home's overall score, it received a very impressive inspection report this year. In fact, it received a nearly flawless inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our best grades in that category with an A. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in computing our inspection ratings. One of those factors is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of the deficiencies is usually more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some deficiencies can be relatively insignificant. This nursing home was assessed 8 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none of the deficiencies were considered severe. This indicates that CMS did not consider any of the deficiencies to create an immediate risk to patient health or safety. A few minor deficiencies are not the end of the world.
Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home's next most favorable score was long-term care, but it nevertheless received a grade of just D in that category. This is still a relatively poor score. Long-term care scores of this caliber generally are a bad sign for the quantity and quality of care provided by nurses and aids, as well as the levels of routine medical care available. After assessing the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we then looked at the nursing home's vaccination statistics. This facility vaccinated 93.85246 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which happens to be slightly less than we were hoping for but still a decent figure. Surprisingly, this nursing home was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home had fewer hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes. This is its best feature in this category.

Nurse Quality
We also wanted to draw your attention to this facility's poor nursing grade where it received an F. When calculating a facility's nursing grade, we consider the amount of time nurses commit to residents as well as the level of skill of the nurses. This facility provided a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient each day. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in computing our nursing scores. This nursing home fared well in terms of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.
Short-term Care Quality
The last area we looked at is short-term care. Sadly, it received an abysmal F for this area, which is an abysmal score. In calculating these short-term care grades, we quantify the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. The objective is to devise a barometer for comparing the rehabilitation services of different nursing homes. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. Lastly, we assessed the number of residents who were able to return home from this facility. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 4.6 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.
